A sport in which two players fight each other in a six sided ring is known as MMA or Mixed Martial Arts. It consists of a number of types that include karate, judo, Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu, boxing and even kick boxing. Players can use both hands and the legs for a fight as MMA is a full contact fight sport. Hitting and grabbing the opponent are some methods that players use in a fight. One thing that should be kept in mind is that MMA is not an Olympic approved sport and is not likely to ever be included in it. Before MMA was considered dangerous and its result was death of the players and but not anymore. Since 1993 the UFC has implemented a lot of rules which has made the game more safer and more watched by the community. These days MMA is an equal level with both wrestling and boxing. Due to the popularity of the sport it has become a business of a pay per view. It is necessary to use mma gloves while fighting to save yourself and others. A lot of rules have been implemented in MMA when two players fight. Rules including both the weight and the equipment is overseen. Players don't use other than gloves during a fight. Mostly the gloves that are used by MMA players are small with holes in the finger areas which are so that players can easily grapple with the other players. Another benefit of these gloves is that they can be used to protect your fist from any type of bruises when a player strikes his opponents. A special tape is wound around the hand of the player to avoid any damage to the fist. There are different types of gloves concerning the weight that are used by players to fight another player in the ring. Some gloves are heavier and some are lighter. Mainly the weights of the gloves fall into two categories that are:

1. Four oz gloves are used during a fight by professional players.

2. To protect their fist amateur players use a 6 oz gloves.

There have been many debates on the usage and the safety of gloves in fights. This is because in boxing when a person hits the opponent on the head using his gloves, the other player may sustain a heavy injury in the eye. It is against the rules for a player to hit a person on the head in MMA fight. This may cause a damage to the hand of the player which is dangerous. Mma gloves are the basic requirement to avoid injuries. Researches that have been done on the gloves has revealed that big gloves are the actual cause of big injuries, whereas small gloves don't create big issues. Brain injuries and eye injuries are often seen because of these big gloves. Boxers never hit the competitors on the face or brain as because of no availability of gloves long term fractures were expected. 4oz gloves are for professionals and 6oz are for amateur and these are the only two types of mma gloves. 6oz is heavier then 4oz to avoid injuries and increasing the protection. Amateurs must use these gloves while learning so that they don't get any kind of injury.
