Yearly, thousands of people engage in races, whether fun runs for charity or even more competitive races with large cash prizes. Looking at life as a different metaphorical race depending on the person is a great way to visualize one's path through life. Before one embarks on the goal of winning the race of life, one must first understand what said goal is deemed meaningful.

For some people, this is just a physical race, and increasing one's stamina and strength come first. If this is true, then regular trips to the health and fitness club for weight-lifting, running, and cycling are necessary. It is crucial that one does not strain himself. However, 30 to 45 minutes of hitting the gym three times a week are all that's necessary to build one's physique.

However, some men and women prefer mental over physical stimulation, although it is always important to maintain one's figure. Reading is the greatest way to expand the mind to several ideas and scenarios, and this is true whether reading fiction, non-fiction, or textbooks. As Fantasy author, George R.R. Martin once wrote, 'A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge.' the individual who reads, particularly on topics relevant to their interests, hobbies, or work-life will have a leg up on their peers.

The next step, in every case, will be experience. Knowledge without experience is mostly useless, so it is therefore important to implement one's skills in the real-world. A book about car maintenance can diagram all the parts, but it is only faster one opens the hood of a vehicle that true learning can begin.

Despite the difficulties, one must never give up in their struggle to become the best. Many people are not born naturals, and those who are usually neglect the hard work and perseverance necessary to keeping up their skills. Although there may be differences in the amount of time or the method of practice, the fact remains that, in the end, most people at the top of their game outwardly have the same level of skill. The things they have to do to make it to the top is irrelevant, so long as they are there.

Although the road of life may very well be filled with potholes, it is the human ability to prevail over these obstacles and become greater for it definitely makes the taste of victory much more delicious.
Author Resource:- The checkered racing flag that signals the beginning of a race may intimidate some, yet it is these very checkered racing flags that should give one hope for an ending. What happens in the end is always changeable, so long as one is willing to enact that change themselves.
