There is a few things you should note about the Google search change and your business which you can find out by continuing to read on.
Google just recently launched "Search, plus your world," which aims to include social search results relevant to you along with public search results. The major issue is that the new change does not take into consideration Facebook and Twitter, but rather your Google Plus social footprint. And yes, it has caused a riot of sorts with users.
It wasn't so long ago that we had the infamous Panda update for Google search (if you're not familiar.well just Google it ?) which served to eliminate sites with content of low-quality. The reasoning behind this was that it's easier to write good content than it is to get people to share your content.
So, what does this new change mean if your business relies on Google search for traffic and resulting sales?
Well, it will be a bit tougher to truly gauge your search rank since Google is the default for users logged into their Google account. Another thing is it will be a bit more difficult for potential prospects to find you business or product since personalized Google preferences more than likely will appear at the top of all results. The major problem in the new Google search change is that not all results will be relevant because there is a difference between public and personal use. Not all potential prospects (or people in general for that matter) know this.
Google search has always strived to find a search algorithm that produces the most relevant results, and it has struggled in doing so. Now, it heads even further in the opposite direction with the new Search+. It does add more trust and authority to your results since it utilizes social proof, but it makes it so the relevance is weakened.
So, it goes without saying that it is a strategically good idea to create a Google Plus brand page if you haven't already. As mentioned before, Google search now relies heavily on it's own social platform Google plus to return results.no twitter and no Facebook. Whether you agree with Google or not, you would do your brand/business harm by not integrating Google Plus into your overall marketing strategy.
The next step isn't as easy as the set up in that you have to get your Google plus brand page into as many influential people's circles as possible. And then, these people also have to be associated in other circles in order to expand your reach outside of your close network. It really means that you have to be relevant, well-liked, and shared by those in influence. A good way to help accomplish this is through the addition of key words to your Google Plus posts.
Another good way to increase your clout with Google is by guest blogging (if you're not already doing it, you should be to increase your Search Eengine Optimization exposure) and ensuring that each site that publishes your content is using the rel="author" tag which links back to your Google+ profile.
