Are you looking to shed a few pounds? Have some difficult belly fat that just won't go ? Tired of wrenching up miles upon boring miles on the tread mill at your Local Gym with not much to show for it? Tired of raw knees, aching joints and pointless hours of cardio and yet not looking toned and ripped? Well read on because HIIT can be just the ticket you need to break through that plateau in a fraction of the time you've been spending on so-called traditional "cardio" workout routines.

Interval training (also called HIIT - High Intensity Interval Training) is a very popular cardio exercise plan now. ??It's very much the exact opposite of LSD - Long Slow Distance. Interval training is short and ultra intense - like sprinting would be. ??LSD, on the other hand, is much longer and done much slower like jogging might be. Scientific studies have shown that interval training is much more efficient than LSD. ??It provides you a lot of the exact same advantages that LSD does, in only a little amount of time. ??And it offers you many other advantages that LSD doesn't.

Essentially, LSD is merely aerobic exercise, meaning that it's an activity that the body generates energy to perform with oxygen. ??Or in other words, you're not breathing that hard. ??Interval training, on the other hand, is anaerobic exercise, meaning it's an activity that the body produces energy to execute without oxygen. ??Or again in other words, you are breathing hard. LSD training increases your aerobic capabilities. Makes sense. ??Interval training, however, increases anaerobic capacity (which again, makes sense) and aerobic capabilities. ??You're essentially getting two for the price of one. Interval training has also proven very beneficial at losing fat, because at the finish of a workout session, your metabolism stays "cranked up" for a number of hours after. But there is a basic issue with interval training though - it has to be extremely, super difficult. ??If you're not putting in the proper intensity into this cardio exercise routine, then you're going to have less than mediocre results. This is due to volume and intensity are inversely relative in cardio workout routines. ??You may go long and slow, or short and strong. null ??Nobody ever sprinted in a marathon... But lets say you do your interval training at a low intensity. ??Now you're slow and short which is the worst of both worlds. So, how can you make sure that you're not wasting your time, and still take advantage of the benefits of interval training? Easy - just pick out some intense activities, and execute them at an intermediate intensity. ??This can comprise of playing assorted sports, or better still, heavy circuit-style weight training. It will be a variation of interval training, which will be shorter shots of highly intense activity. ??Nevertheless, for the cardio activity won't be at 100% intensity, you simply execute with a little more volume to make up for it.
